Day trips can be very fun experiences. You can get out and see something fun, while still making it back to sleep in your bed by nighttime. It’s exciting to be spontaneous about this — though a little bit of planning can go a long way in making the experience enjoyable. Here are four suggestions for your potential day trip. These tips should help you have a terrific time.
Sturdy Walking Shoes
There’s a good chance you’ll be walking around a lot during your day trip. This is the case if you’re on a hike, in a museum, on the streets, or even along the beach. You want to wear appropriate shoes to aid in walking rather than hinder it. You might like those pair of pumps — or bulky brand designer sneakers. However, are those conducive when walking miles and miles on pavement? There’s nothing worse than annoying blisters forming on your heels or the back of your feet when actively moving around. Avoid this by wearing comfortable, practical footwear.
Portable Chargers
This one is pretty self-explanatory. You won’t always have the opportunity to find an outlet to charge your devices. There’s a strong likelihood you’ll be using your phone to record/capture moments on the day trip. This will inevitably drain your battery. To prevent this, purchase a portable charger to have on you at all times. Not only will this help when your phone’s battery lessens, but if you have a little one desperately needing to use an iPad or a Nintendo Switch, the portable charger will be your best friend.
Clothing For The Occasion
What sort of climate are you going to experience? Are you headed to the snow? Have an afternoon in the desert? Walking around a hot and humid city during the summer? All of these factors will dictate how you dress for the occasion. To note — if you are in a foreign city and want to check out a mosque, church, synagogue, or any other religious location, there could be stipulations put in place as to how you enter the building. Many times, you have to be respectful by covering your legs. Remember this, and adjust accordingly by perhaps bringing an extra pair of pants in a backpack or bag. Additionally, if the weather for where you’re traveling can be volatile, bring a light waterproof jacket just in the event you need some sort of protection from the elements.
Snacks
Your traveling party might not like the food selections accessible during your day trip. If you’ve got a small child/children, their experiences with food are even more limited. This could make finding something for them to eat a challenge, and having to deal with a crying kid on a day trip is less than ideal. To combat these issues, pack some snacks with you before leaving home. You can placate your kids in a pinch with things you know they like, and you can also grab a quick bite on the go as you’re walking around or sitting briefly to take a quick break.
