Although the record-high temperatures are blistering the country, you may want to consider a vacation soon in order to cool down. That is the best time to book a vacation, experts say.
Hayley Berg, an economist at travel platform Hopper speaking to CNN, stated that “this is the best time of year” to take a vacation practically anywhere. The reason for this is due to the fact the autumn months often signify a cooldown period. After the high temperatures cool off and the summer travel rush crowds dissipate, the opportunity for travel is near-perfect.
“Airfare drops so considerably from summer to September and October that you can take one of those big, longer, expensive vacations for about 30% less across the board, no matter where you’re headed,” Hopper said.
Those who wait the extra few months to avoid vacation during the summer are rewarded with ideal travel conditions. The challenge is, of course, finding the time to take off from any obligations.
Here are two travel recommendations we would consider during this period:
Japan
Travel to Japan is significantly cheaper in the autumn/winter months. Overall, it’s better too. The crowds have lessened, the weather has cooled, a nd multiple things are in-season for you to enjoy. The weather is a major factor, as summer months in Japan can get uncomfortably hot and humid. In the winter months, you can see the vibrant foliage much better, with breathtaking colors of red, orange, and yellow. The snow-capped Japanese alps also provides a beautiful backdrop, especially in Kyoto.
Ugunquit, Maine
This underrated coastal Maine town has all the charms of a small town while still having enough to do to never get bored. The docks and beaches are surrounded by a quaint East-coast feel that is backed up by a tremendous art scene. With the crowds and heat cooled off, this is the best time to visit. Be sure to check out the nature walks, art stores, museums, and many breweries and restaurants in the area!
