This Quaint Town in Maine Has One of the Greatest Beaches in the United States

Welcome to Ogunquit, Maine.

Never heard of Ogunquit? It is home to much of what makes Maine spectacular: a quiet coastal town with beaches, nature, and a small-town feel that will make many visitors quickly feel at home. Visitors should walk the Marginal Way, which is a beautiful 1.25 mile coastal walk that takes you through a path along the Atlantic Ocean, with plenty beaches along the way. The trail ends at Perkins Cove, which is a fantastic area for galleries, restaurants, and other shops. You will also find local crafts that you can enjoy after a meal. Of course, how could we forget the Maine-style lobster rolls?

This town is definitely relaxed, but don’t be fooled. The lively bars and warm locals will make sure there are plenty of things to see or do no matter the time of year. While tourism does peak during July and August to take advantage of the lovely beaches, the town itself is never too busy with tourists.

However, one of the things you may not expect this to be great for is the beaches.

Ogunquit Beach, in particular, is a long stretch of sandy shorelines. If you were to visit, we would recommend going when the weather has cooled to avoid the tourist rush. Regardless, your time here will be spectacular no matter what time of year you come. Here you can collect seashells, walk along the shore, or simply just sit down with a beach towel and enjoy the tranquility.

If you are looking to visit this town, we would recommend staying at the Blue Shutters Inn and Studios, The Admiral’s Inn, or the Beachmere Inn (amongst many more!). These lodgings have excellent locations and will provide you a short and direct access to Marginal Way and other ideal locations around the town.
