Paris, France: Best Things to do In The 16th Arrondissement

The 16th arrondissement in Paris is one of the wealthiest and swankiest neighborhoods in the entire country. Of course, this means it is also host to some of the best sights that the city has to offer. While the area can lean tourist-y (and therefore unusually high-priced restaurants can be plentiful), there are so many must-see things in just a short walk.

Arc de Triomphe

This famous monument was completed in 1836, and is marked as the dividing line between the 16th, 17th, and 8th, arrondissements. Looking at a map of the area, you can see From the 16th, you can walk toward the monument via Victor Hugo Ave. or Kiebler Ave. for the best photo opportunities. Looking at a map, you can see the unique Parisian urban planning: the star-like extension of roads all converging upon the Arc. Do not miss this!

Musée National des Arts Asiatiques (Guimet Museum)

The largest art collection of Asian art outside of Asia lies in this multi-story, sprawling museum. At first glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking this museum was quite small. However, after exploring the bottom-floor collection of Indian and Buddhist sculptures, you head up the stairs to find a maze of art collections from Afghanistan, central Asia, Japan, Korea, and many more. One could easily spend nearly an entire day here if they take their time to read through the helpful and informative plaques posted throughout.

Trocadero

One could choose to get their pictures of the Eiffel Tower from a dizzying amount of angles around the city. But in terms of best views, look no further than the Trocadero gardens looking out on the Iron Lady. The origin of the plaza extends to when Paris hosted the World’s Fair in 1878. It was remodeled in 1937 and had the gardens received an adjustment to emphasize views of the tower. It hosts the perfect area for tourists to gather and enjoy picnics and take photos of the tower with breathtaking views.

Musée du Vin

The Wine Museum in the 16th arrondissement is built on a historical site that dates back to the Middle Ages — this alone would be reason enough to visit, but add wine to the mix and this place becomes an absolute must-see. Parisian wine is one of the greatest in the world, and here you can receive an educational experience in the complexities of Parisian winemaking. Tours are available in English also hosts other cultural events and seminars related to wine.
