Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
Tiger Stadium offers one of the best home-field advantages in the sport of College Football. Those residing in Baton Rouge turn gameday into a carnival-like atmosphere. You can tailgate and party for hours and hours before the game starts. Once in the game — particularly if it’s a night kickoff — the sound inside Tiger Stadium can be deafening.
While in Baton Rouge, you can enjoy some terrific local cuisine not found anywhere outside of Louisiana. They have a tiger exhibit featuring a live tiger, and you’re less than 90 minutes by car from New Orleans. In terms of a travel weekend, seeing New Orleans and Baton Rouge would be a fantastic time.
The Rose Bowl (Pasadena, California)
The Rose Bowl has the prettiest setting in all of College Football. Considered the most iconic venue in the sport, it sits with the picturesque Arroyo Seco prominently in the background. The stadium was constructed in a way that offers great visibility from everywhere. In other words, there are no bad seats in the house. From a tailgating perspective, things at the Rose Bowl are sublime. The area is literally on a golf course, and there’s tons of space to explore and enjoy. For most of the country, getting ideal weather isn’t easy.
More often than not, taking a trip to Pasadena will allow you to stay warm and comfortable. Plus, Pasadena is only a stone’s throw from Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and not too far from coastal beach cities like Santa Monica, Venice, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach.
Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
“The Big House” is just that — a massive football facility draped in tradition and success. Michigan Stadium is home to the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan. This stadium holds more than 107,000 people on game day! The city of Ann Arbor itself is one of the country’s best college towns. There’s tons you can do here. From there, taking in a Michigan football game is an experience in and of itself. Between the pageantry, colors, band, and atmosphere, you’ll probably head to the Student Union after the game to pick up some Michigan merch.
Folsom Field (Boulder, Colorado)
Another great college town is Boulder. Essentially a suburb of Denver, this city is home to the University of Colorado. Even with the excitement and expectations brought by head coach Deion Sanders, visiting here for a football game is an experience. Similarly to The Rose Bowl, Folsom Field is picturesque with snow-capped mountains sitting in the background. The city of Boulder itself has a terrific food and brewery scene. Once you’ve had your fill of college life, bop over to Denver and experience more big-city living. All in all, you’ll have a great time.
